Antonio Mendez, a former C.I.A. intelligence officer and co-author, with Matt Baglio, of “Argo: How the C.I.A. and Hollywood Pulled Off the Most Audacious Rescue in History,” will be among the panelists at a discussion about that 1979 mission at Discovery Times Square.

The book, released Sept. 13, tells the story of the rescue of six American diplomats in Iran. Also taking part in the free discussion, which begins at 6:30 p.m., will be his wife, Jonna Mendez, also a former C.I.A. intelligence officer; H. Keith Melton, an intelligence historian; Robert Wallace, a former C.I.A. officer wand author; and Robert Anders, one of those rescued

The discussion is being presented in conjunction with the exhibition “Spy: The Secret World of Espionage,” on view through March 31. Space is limited and reservations can be made by e-mailing DKCbook@dkcnews.com.

A film based on Mr. Mendez’s book, directed by and starring Ben Affleck, is scheduled to open in theaters on Oct. 12.
